Free Facebook Post Schedulers in 2026: What Each Free Plan Includes

Short answer: if you only post to Facebook and Instagram, Meta Business Suite is free and is enough for scheduling those posts. A free third-party plan makes sense when you also publish elsewhere, but check its caps on channels, posts and history. A free trial is not a free plan.
Start with your actual calendar, not a list of tools. Count the accounts you need to connect and look at how much content you want scheduled. A free Facebook post scheduler that fits occasional posts may not fit a calendar prepared far in advance. The plan details below are current as of October 2026.
Schedule Facebook posts free with Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Suite on desktop lets you create and schedule posts for Facebook and Instagram. For a Facebook Page, you need full control or content permission. Check that access before preparing the post, especially if you publish for a client.
- Switch to the Facebook Page you want to publish to.
- Open Meta Business Suite from the left menu and select Create post.
- Add your content and review the destination.
- Under Scheduling options, turn on Set date and time.
- Choose a date and time, or use Active times for a recommendation.
- Review the post and select Schedule.
You can schedule between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead. Times use your current time zone. If the audience is elsewhere, work out the corresponding time before confirming rather than assuming the clock follows the audience.
Active times recommends slots based on when followers were most active over the past 7 days. Use that as a starting point, not a promise about how the post will perform. If you have a specific announcement time, enter it deliberately.
After scheduling, open Planner in its week or month view. The post’s Options let you edit text, media, link or location, duplicate it, reschedule it, move it to drafts or delete it. Moving it to drafts cancels the schedule. Check the calendar again after any change.
The native tool covers Facebook and Instagram, not a wider cross-network calendar. You can customise their text separately in the same composer. If those are your only destinations and the scheduling window fits, there is no need to add another tool just to choose a publishing time.
What the free third-party plans include
These are free plans, not trial offers. Read each allowance in its own units: posts per channel in a queue are different from posts per month across a brand. Avoid comparing those numbers as though they describe the same limit.
Buffer
Buffer’s free-forever plan includes up to 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel, with the option to refill anytime. It includes 1 user, 100 ideas, an AI Assistant, a community inbox and Insights with 30-day history. API access includes 1 key and 3,000 requests per month.
The scheduling catch is the per-channel queue cap. If you want a longer calendar ready at once, compare it against that allowance. The Insights history is also limited, so check whether it covers the period you want to review.
Publer
Publer’s free plan has 1 user and 1 workspace, with up to 3 social accounts. X/Twitter is excluded. Each account can have up to 10 scheduled posts at a time. The plan also includes up to 25 drafts, Linkie link-in-bio and Canva.
Published post history lasts 24 hours. Keep that distinction in mind: drafts and queued posts are not the same as a record of what has already gone out. If you need to look back further, check the paid plan terms before choosing it.
Metricool
Metricool’s free plan covers 1 brand and that brand’s networks except LinkedIn and X. It includes up to 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics, 5 competitor profiles and an AI assistant.
Here the cap is monthly posting volume, not just the number waiting in a queue. Compare your planned monthly output with the allowance. Also check that the brand structure and excluded networks fit your work before connecting accounts.
Free plans and trials at a glance
| Tool | Free plan | Accounts | Post limit | Other limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Business Suite | Yes | Facebook and Instagram destinations | Not stated; 20 minutes to 29 days ahead | Page access required; current time zone |
| Buffer | Yes | Up to 3 channels | 10 scheduled per channel; refill anytime | 1 user; 30-day Insights history |
| Publer | Yes | Up to 3 social accounts | 10 scheduled at a time per account | X excluded; 1 user; 25 drafts; 24-hour published history |
| Metricool | Yes | 1 brand’s networks | 20 per month | LinkedIn and X excluded; 30 days of analytics |
| Trial only: the following tools have no free plan | ||||
| Later | No; 14-day trial | Starter: 1 social set, 8 profiles | Starter: 30 posts per profile | Figures are for the paid Starter plan |
| Hootsuite | No; 14-day trial | Not stated | During the trial, 10 to 20 a day per organization, by plan | No card; no bulk scheduling during trial |
| Sprout Social | No; 30-day trial | Not stated | Not stated | No card |
| OmniFire | No; 7-day trial | Paid plans start at 5 accounts | Not stated | No card needed to start |
“Not stated” means the vendor’s page doesn’t give that number. It doesn’t mean unlimited. For trials, confirm the actual trial terms rather than borrowing the limits of a paid plan.
Choose around the calendar you need
For one Page only, start with Meta Business Suite. For 2 to 3 accounts across networks and relatively few posts, compare the free plans against those exact destinations. Check the exclusions before spending time preparing content.
For regular volume or a team, expect to pay somewhere. Decide which limit matters to you: connected accounts, queued posts, monthly volume or access for colleagues. Do not buy extra capacity you do not need, but do not build a routine around an allowance you already exceed.
Use a trial before moving the whole calendar. Try a representative post and a schedule change, then check the destination and result. Keep the existing calendar until you have confirmed the workflow you intend to use.
Checks that prevent scheduling mistakes
- Page and permission: check the selected Page and your content access before preparing the schedule.
- Time zone: write down the intended audience time. Meta uses your current time zone. Other tools may let you pick a time zone per post, so check which one is in use.
- Lead time: Meta requires at least 20 minutes. OmniFire requires at least 10 minutes for a Facebook target. Check the tool you are using before scheduling a last-minute post.
- Media: through OmniFire, a Facebook post can contain up to 10 photos or one video, but not both together. Check the chosen tool’s requirements before combining files.
- Calendar: reopen Planner or the scheduler’s calendar after saving. Compare the Page and time with your plan, and check the published result afterward.
Where OmniFire fits
OmniFire has no free plan. It offers a 7-day trial with no card needed to start. Consider it when Facebook is one of several platforms you publish to, rather than as a permanent free Facebook scheduler.
It posts to the Facebook Pages selected during connection; unselected Pages stay untouched. The same post can go to other connected platforms with separate adjustments. You choose a time zone per schedule in scheduled publishing, and can edit Facebook text or delete the post after publishing.
Use the comparison page to review options and pricing for current paid terms. Test with your own destinations before moving a working calendar.

In Meta Business Suite, between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead. Other tools have their own terms; check their help pages before planning further out.
Can you schedule Facebook posts for free with an third-party tool?
Yes. Buffer, Publer and Metricool have free plans as of October 2026. Their account, posting and history limits differ, as listed above.
Can you schedule to several Pages at once?
